Drives a tanker truck filled with aviation fuel to waiting aircraft, attaches a fuel hose to aircraft fuel tank and fills it with fuel.

• Manoeuvres vehicles into position for replenishing of tanks; observes safety requirements are meet and followed; attaches hosing couplings and operates truck pump to fill aircraft tanks; makes regular quality checks of vehicles to ensure they can be driven safely.

• Works inside and outside vehicles constantly, driving on airport tarmac and replenishes fuel supply in tanker and on aircraft.
• Works in all weather conditions.
• Can be dusty, cold or hot, but many truck cabs are heated, air-conditioned and protected from the elements.

• Climbs up steps to enter and exit vehicle cab.
• Uses upper limbs, feet and legs to stretch down and across and push or pull to operate controls.
• May squat, crouch, bend or kneel occasionally to check vehicle and load.
• Occasionally twists body or neck if reversing vehicle and for some loading and unloading activities.
• Significant contact with water or skin irritants is not typically required.
• Lifting and carrying is not a significant component of this work other than when attaching couplings to transfer fuel.
• Frequent repetitive hand, arm, leg and foot movements are required for the operation of truck controls.
• Driving is frequently to constantly required.
• Hand tools or equipment used will include pens to complete pick-up and delivery documentation requirements and also general tools for minor repairs and maintenance.
• Mental skills necessary include practical, organisational and record-keeping skills.

• (ANZSCO Skill Level 4). A Class 4 or 5 Driver’s Licence with a Dangerous Goods (D) Endorsement. Also the ability to pass security clearance, including no criminal convictions.
• Normal colour vision and the ability to pass an annual medical examination.
• Once employed, successful completion of at least 6 weeks on-the-job training, including fuel quality sampling, the correct amounts of fuel for specific aircraft, fire and emergency drills and airside vehicle operation.
• Useful prior experience includes: tanker or truck driving; chemical, fuel or other dangerous goods handling; and/or a mechanical background.

• There are opportunities for flexibility of movement but they are limited.
