Prepares, removes, transports and reconstitutes buildings at new locations.

Clears old and new sites as required (fences, trees and other obstacles); prepares structure by removing or securing loose fittings, installing cross-bracing and breaking bricks or concrete at foundation level; may cut buildings into pieces; performs jacking and piling tasks to best position structure for removal; manoeuvres truck into position for loading; ensures buildings are securely loaded and covered to prevent loss and damage; confers with Load Pilots and reviews transport documentation/permits; drives vehicle to new site and unloads in accordance with the site plan; re-assembles parts of the building into an integrated whole.

• Works in all weather conditions outside or inside buildings and vehicles. Can require work in dusty, dirty, cold or hot conditions. Many truck cabs are heated, air-conditioned and protected from the elements.
• Often required to work at night.

• Sits in vehicle cab constantly when driving and moving between locations.
• Climbs up steps to enter and exit vehicle cab.
• Frequently stretches down and across and pushes or pulls when preparing the site or the load or to operate controls such as a pumping plant to operate jacks.
• May squat, crouch, bend or kneel frequently when preparing the site or the load and occasionally to check vehicle and load.
• Occasionally twists body or neck if reversing vehicle and for some site preparation, loading and unloading activities.
• Significant contact with water or skin irritants is not typically involved.
• Lifting and carrying is a frequent requirement.
• Frequent repetitive hand, arm, leg and foot movements are required for the operation of truck and other machinery controls.
• Driving can be frequently to constantly required.
• Hand tools or equipment used will include hammers, sledgehammers and a wide range of power tools
• Mental skills necessary include practical and organisational abilities.

• A New Zealand Register Level 2 or 3 qualification or at least one year of relevant experience (ANZSCO Skill Level 4). For entry-level positions on-the-job training may be sufficient.
• For roles involving driving a Class 1, 2 or 4 Driver’s Licence is required, depending on the size of vehicle to be driven. Load Pilot qualifications would be advantageous for some specific roles.

There are opportunities for flexibility of movement but they are limited.
