This occupation group covers sales support workers not elsewhere classified. Specialisations include mystery shopper and personal shopper.

• Visits stores to check on their customer service, the appearance of stores and staff knowledge of the merchandise or services being sold; personal shoppers assist clients in the purchasing of clothes, gifts and other items.

• Employees generally work indoors in Some may be required to work in outdoor areas such as garden centres.
• Employees will frequently work in adequately heated and ventilated spaces. Personal shoppers often work as consultants and may base themselves out of a home office or a connected to upscale department stores.

• Light work demand level.
• Employees constantly stand and move about stores.
• May sit occasionally depending on the nature of the store or when in consultation. Both mystery and personal shoppers are likely to move from one retail site to another.
• Contact with skin irritants or water is not a significant component of this job.
• Stretching and/or twisting is not typically a significant component of this job.
• Lifting, pulling or carrying requirements will vary from none to occasional.
• Bending, squatting or crouching is not a significant component of this job.
• Driving of cars is likely to be frequent unless based solely in one location.
• Repetitive movements of hands and arms will be needed for entering data into computers.
• Use of office hand-held equipment such as pens or calculators will be occasional.
• Mental skills necessary include analysis, communication, presentation, organisation and planning.

An NZQF Level 2 or 3 qualification, or at least one year of relevant experience (ANZSCO Skill Level 4).

In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.
