Collects fares and issues tickets on a transport vehicle.

Collects tickets and change from depot clerks; signals drivers to stop and proceed; oversees passengers' safety in emergency circumstances, and opens and closes vehicle doors; assists passengers to board and alight from vehicles and assists passengers with baggage.

• Employees work in an indoor environment on public transport vehicles
• Employees may also stand outside when assisting passengers with their baggage and assisting passengers on and off the vehicle, in which case they will work in all weather conditions.
• Indoor work environments are generally adequately heated and ventilated.

• Sedentary to light but occasionally medium physical demand level (for example, if helping passengers get on and off the train and assisting with baggage.
• Walks or stands frequently to enable attendance to passengers’ needs.
• Rarely sits. Occasionally to frequently stretches and reaches across if assisting with luggage. Twisting of the body or neck may be required occasionally.
• Contact with skin irritants or water is not a significant component of the job.
• Occasionally carries and lifts food trays and items of passenger baggage.
• Bending squatting or crouching movements may occur occasionally.
• Repetitive arm, hand and finger movements are occasionally necessary when cleaning and helping with baggage.
• Use of hand-held objects such as scanners, pens and cleaning equipment will be occasional to frequent.
• Mental capabilities necessary include a high level of communication, organisational and practical skills.

• Nil (ANZSCO Skill Level 5).

There are opportunities for flexibility of movement but they are limited.
