Performs routine tasks in a recycling facility.

• Sorts, packs and stores plastics, glass, paper, metals and other recyclable materials which have been collected from household, commercial and industrial premises in preparation for use in creating new products.

• Works indoors and outdoors at recycling depots or on-site when collecting materials at a variety of industrial, commercial and private establishments.
• Workspaces are likely to be noisy, dirty and draughty as these venues are often exposed to the natural elements.
• Employees work in all but extreme weather conditions.
• Protective clothing and equipment will be utilised as required.

• Up to very heavy physical demand levels.
• Constantly stands or sits when sorting materials.
• Occasional to frequent walking is required when collecting and sorting materials into appropriate categories.
• Twisting of the body or neck may be required frequently to facilitate collection and sorting tasks.
• Contact with skin irritants or water is possible and protective clothing and equipment should be utilised as appropriate.
• Lifting, pulling or carrying will vary from light to medium to very heavy, depending upon the type of materials being worked with and the quantity.
• Bending squatting or crouching will be required on an occasional to frequent basis where there is a need to pick materials up.
• Repetitive movements may be required in operating machines, forklifts and carrying out sorting tasks.
• Driving will be required for some roles on a frequent basis.
• Mental skills necessary include attention to detail and sorting.

• Nil (ANZSCO Skill Level 5).
• If forklift driving/operation is involved the following applies: A Forklift Operator’s Certificate is required. To operate on a road or in a public space, operators must also have a full Class 1 Driver's Licence with a Forklift (F) Endorsement. To operate a heavy forklift, operators also need to have a full Class 2 Driver's Licence with an F Endorsement.
