Prepares and sells food to customers from a van or truck.

Tasks include orders and takes delivery of fast food ingredients; prepares food and beverages for sale; drives food truck or van to street and market locations; advertises food and beverage offerings; explains the food offerings to customers; takes orders and manages payment; serves food and beverage to customers; operates cooking equipment such as grills, microwaves and deep-fat fryers; cleans food preparation areas, cooking surfaces and utensils; performs stocktake.

• Works outdoors from light trucks and vans, frequently based at markets or fairs but also on public streets.
• Deals directly with the public.

• Occasionally employees bend, squat or crouch to facilitate kitchen tasks such as picking up bags of ingredients.
• Mental skills necessary include knowledge of cooking processes, communication and organisation.
