• Works indoors in an office environment.
• Works predominantly at office desks, constantly at a computer workstation.
• Generally works in adequately heated and ventilated spaces.

• Sedentary role.
• Constantly sits at a workstation and checks the printed or on-screen version of material to be published against the original manuscript or source document. Will use a standard marking system to indicate where corrections are required
• Occasionally stands and walks about the office in order to locate required information and to consult with other staff.
• Stretching, twisting and climbing are not a significant component of the job.
• Bending, squatting or crouching movements are not significant components of the job.
• Lifting and carrying is not a significant feature of the job.
• Repetitive arm hand and finger movements are required when using a computer.
• Hand-held objects will include the use of pens or pencils as well ad general office equipment.
• Mental skills necessary include a good level of analysis, communication, concentration and organisational skill.

A New Zealand Register Level 2 or 3 qualification or at least one year of relevant experience (ANZSCO Skill Level 4). In some instances particular experience and/or on-the-job training may be required. For entry-level positions on-the-job training is sufficient.

• Note that there are few full-time positions for this work with increased multi-tasking in the publishing industry.
