Delivers mail by motorised transport over allocated rural delivery rounds.

Sorts and sequences items for delivery; delivers mail, parcels, documents and other items to customers' premises and mailboxes; maintains log books, directories, mail counts, equipment maintenance logs and other delivery records; loads and unloads mail conveyances and internal mail handling equipment; assists with receipting inward mail, checking wrongly addressed, mis-sorted, undelivered and redirected mail, and processing freepost and underpaid mail and some freight.

• Works from a vehicle for most of the period employed. Occasionally works indoors in a depot.
• Works in all weathers and wears appropriate protective clothing.
• Deals directly with the public, frequently on a one to one basis.

• Light to medium physical demand level.
• Frequent repetitive hand, arm and leg and foot movements are required for the operation of van or car controls.
• Uses upper limbs, feet and body to stretch down and across to operate controls and to place and retrieve items from load compartments.
• Driving is a frequent to constant requirement.
• Walks when loading vehicle
• Stretching and twisting activities are frequently occasionally when performing delivery tasks.
• Lifting and carrying movements will be within a light to medium weight range, and may require carrying mail or larger packages.
• Repetitive arm, hand and finger movements will be necessary, and good hand gripping and finger dexterity will be necessary.
• Bending will occur occasionally if lifting or placing items, but squatting or crouching movements are not a significant feature of the job.
• Mental skills necessary include communication, organisational and planning skills.

A Class 1 driving license is necessary (ANZSCO Skill Level 5).

There are opportunities for flexibility of movement but they are limited.
