Delivers goods, documents, messages, samples, x-rays and test results by van, car, bicycle or on foot.

Sorts and sequences items for delivery; delivers mail, parcels, documents and other items to customers' premises and mailboxes; receives orders for deliveries from customers; collects signatures and charges for cash-on-delivery orders; issues and collects receipts for pick-up and delivery items; keeps records of items received and delivered.

• Works indoors in transport vehicles and a variety of businesses, private homes and courier centres. Works outdoors when moving between transport vehicles and actual delivery location.
• Works in all weathers and wears appropriate protective clothing.

• Medium to Heavy physical demand levels but this can be less (even to a light demand for example when the role involves transporting medical samples) for some roles.
• Walks and may run when collecting and delivering items.
• Stretching, twisting, climbing activities are likely to be required on an occasional to frequent basis.
• Bending will occur frequently when lifting parcels from the floor or back or vehicles.
• Lifting and carrying movements will be required on a frequent basis.
• Repetitive arm hand and finger movements may be required on an occasional basis when logging in details of pick ups and deliveries into a hand-held computer and when performing delivery tasks.
• Driving is constantly required.
• Mental skills necessary include communication, geographical, organisational and planning skills.

A current Class 1 Driver's Licence is required unless deliveries are made by bicycle or on foot (ANZSCO Skill Level 5). Some employers will also prefer or require a Dangerous Goods (D) Driver’s Licence Endorsement.

There are opportunities for flexibility of movement but they are limited.
