Plans, organises and provides guided fishing trips for individuals or groups.

Meets and introduces members of a tour on arrival; organises and supervises groups involved in outdoor fishing adventures; sets up and maintains equipment, and ensures equipment is safe and in working condition; demonstrates and provides instruction in the use of equipment and techniques required for participation; provides advice on safety measures, and ensures activities are conducted in a manner to minimise risk to participants; responds to emergencies by providing first aid assistance and takes appropriate further action if required; answers questions and advises on local interest points; may maintain written reports of daily activities and carry out other administrative work.

• Employees predominantly work outside, frequently in remote areas.
• Works only when the weather does not impinge on the safety of the event.
• Works in/on and about water.
• Utilises protective equipment as required.

• Light to heavy physical demand.
• Employees frequently stand or move about the work area to greet clients, set up and maintain equipment and supervise groups. Walking is a significant component of the job.
• Sitting is not a significant component of the job.
• Stretching or reaching is likely to be required frequently when setting up equipment or when fishing.
• Squatting or crouching is likely to be frequently required, when checking on participants and setting up and inspecting equipment.
• Contact with water is occasionally necessary but contact with skin irritants is generally not required.
• Twisting of the body or neck is likely to be required occasionally.
• Frequent lifting, pulling or carrying when collecting or moving equipment.
• Bending may be required occasionally.
• Repetitive movements other than walking are not a significant component.
• Use of hand tools and hand-held objects will be frequently required.
• Mental skills necessary include analysis and decision-making, communication and organisational skills.

An NZQF Level 4 qualification, or at least three years of relevant experience (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)

In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.

There are opportunities for flexibility of movement but they are limited.
