Directs, supervises and controls skydiving activities for individuals or group. Controls and/or performs skydiving jumps at events or as required.

Sets up, packs and maintains equipment and ensures that equipment is safe and in working condition; monitors weather conditions; meets clients/participants; establishes purpose of jump and jump logistics; liaises with pilot; organises and supervises individuals or groups involved in skydiving; demonstrates and provides instruction in the use of equipment and techniques required for participation; answers questions; provides advice on safety measures and ensures that activities are conducted in a manner to minimise risk to participants; supervises and checks participants’ use of chutes and protective clothing/equipment; attaches tandem jumper; boards plane; undertakes tandem or single jump; films or photographs jump or surroundings; responds to emergencies by providing first aid assistance and takes appropriate further action if required; debriefs clients/participants; ensures compliance with Civil Aviation regulations; maintain written reports of daily activities; may carry out other administrative work such as providing information, taking bookings and receiving payments.

• Employees work inside small planes, hangars and other airfield buildings and outside.
• Spends time at altitude in cold and noisy conditions.
• Utilises protective clothing/equipment as required.
• Works when the weather does not impinge on the safety of the event.

• Light to very heavy physical demand.
• Employees frequently stand or move and may sit when doing administrative tasks.
• Stretching, reaching, bending, squatting, crouching, lifting, pulling or carrying is likely to be frequently required when collecting, moving and packing equipment and manoeuvring inside aircraft.
• Twisting of the body or neck is likely to be frequent when exiting aircraft and during the jump.
• Repetitive movements are frequently likely when strapping in clients.
• Contact with skin irritants or water is not required.
• Tools or equipment used to pack or maintain parachute equipment are used frequently.
• Mental skills necessary include analysis and decision-making, communication and organisational skills.

• 18+ years old and meet the New Zealand Parachute Industry Association (NZPIA) Fit & Proper Person Criteria. A current First Aid Certificate is likely to be required.
• Hold at minimum a NZPIA Parachutist Certificate with C Endorsement (ANZSCO Skill Level 3). Jump Master or Parachute Technician Ratings may be required for specific roles.
• Tandem Masters must meet Civil Aviation medical criteria and hold a Commercial Parachutists Certificate - confers a NZPIA Parachutist Certificate with D Endorsement (ANZSCO Skill Level 2).
• A Diploma in Commercial Skydiving (NZQA Level 5) will satisfy some of the above.

There are opportunities for flexibility of movement but they are limited.
