Provides travel and accommodation information to tourists. May work in a call centre.

Answers inquiries from tourists and offers suggestions about tours, travel routes, accommodation and local customs; provides literature and information on local and inter-island tours and places of interest; discusses transport availability and cost; may work in a call centre.

• Employees work indoors in an office/kiosk environment or call centre.
• Work spaces are generally adequately heated, ventilated, welcoming and inviting to visitors.

• Sedentary to light work demand level.
• Can sit or stand when answering tourist inquiries.
• Stands and walks frequently to gather information on tours and accommodation to assist tourists.
• Stretching and reaching is not a significant component of this job.
• Twisting of the body or neck is not a significant component of this job.
• Contact with skin irritants or water is not required.
• Lifting, pulling or carrying is likely to be necessary on an occasional basis for re-stocking pamphlets into displays.
• Bending squatting or crouching movements may occur occasionally but are not a significant component of the job.
• Repetitive arm, hand and finger movements are likely to be frequent when operating a computer or telephone.
• Use of hand-held objects and computers such as pens, computers and telephones will be frequent.
• Mental skills necessary include communication, organisational and practical skills.

A New Zealand Register Level 2 or 3 qualification or at least one year of relevant experience (ANZSCO Skill Level 4). In some instances relevant experience may be required in addition to the formal qualification. For entry-level positions on-the-job training may be sufficient.
