Uses natural techniques and diagnostic methods for treatment, relaxation and health purposes.

Interviews clients to work out their needs; treats emotional, psychological and physical imbalances of the body using natural techniques and diagnostic methods; monitors and corrects imbalances in the body using muscle testing techniques.

• Works indoors in hospital, medical clinics or private practices.
• Deals with members of the public normally on a one-to-one basis.
• Works in an adequately heated, ventilated and lit workspace.
• Work spaces will be clean, hygienic and well-maintained.

• Sedentary physical demand level.
• Frequently stands and walks in order to provide services at a patient’s bedside or treatment table and to collect equipment and medications.
• May occasionally sit at an office desk or on a chair to update records or to talk with patients and provide educational information.
• Stretching and/or twisting may be required.
• Heavy lifting, pulling or carrying is not a significant feature of the job.
• Frequent repetitive and precise hand and finger movements are necessary for many natural healing procedures.
• Bending movements may be required depending on the type of practise.
• Squatting or crouching is not a significant feature of the job.
• There will be use of office equipment and specialised treatment equipment including adjustable treatment table and various diagnostic equipment items.
• Driving is unlikely to be required unless there is a need for visiting patients at home or travelling to community settings.
• Mental skills necessary include educational, observational, diagnostic, analytical, problem-solving, practical, communication and organisational skills.

A New Zealand Register Level 2 or 3 qualification or at least one year of relevant experience (ANZSCO Skill Level 4). In some instances relevant experience may be required in addition to the formal qualification. For entry-level positions on-the-job training may be sufficient.
