Provides services and support to people seeking assistance in a refuge.

• Organises refuge accommodation.
• Provides emotional support to residents of refuges.
• Refers residents of refuges for health and welfare assistance and ensures security of refuge.

• Employees generally work inside in offices or domiciles connected to refuges.
• Work spaces are generally adequately heated and ventilated; and are also clean and well-maintained.
• Employees frequently deal with a variety of cultures and with people whose first language is not English.

• Sedentary to light physical demand level.
• Employees walk about the work area occasionally when organising accommodation and collecting equipment and supplies.
• Sitting is occasionally required when writing case notes or reports.
• Stretching and reaching is not a significant component of this role.
• Squatting or crouching is not a significant component of this role.
• Twisting of the body or neck is not a significant component of this role.
• Contact with skin irritants or water is not a significant component of this job.
• Lifting, pulling or carrying is occasional and is unlikely to exceed a light physical demand.
• Bending is not a significant component of this role.
• Repetitive movements may be necessary on an occasional basis to operate a computer.
• The use of hand-held objects will be occasional and will primarily involve the use of office equipment.
• Mental skills necessary include communication, practical, analysis and decision-making and organisational skills.

• An NZQF Level 4 qualification, or at least three years of relevant experience (ANZSCO Skill Level 3).
• In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job-training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.
• Making application to work in this role is likely to involve a police background check.

There are opportunities for flexibility of movement but they are limited.
