Investigates learning and teaching, and develops psychological techniques to foster the development and skills of individuals and groups in educational settings.

• Conducts research studies of motivation in learning, group performance and individual differences in mental abilities and educational performance; collects data and analyses characteristics of students and recommends educational programmes; formulates achievement, diagnostic and predictive tests for use by teachers in planning methods and content of instruction.

• Works indoors in educational facilities, government departments, private practices and research facilities.
• Works in adequately heated, lit, ventilated and clean, well maintained workspaces.

• Sedentary physical demand.
• Sits to meet with clients or at computers when preparing or writing reports.
• Occasionally stands, walks and moves around the workspace.
• Lifting, carrying or pulling is not a significant component of the job.
• There are occasional to frequent repetitive hand and finger movements required when using a computer or when writing.
• There is frequent use of hand-held objects and equipment including computers, writing tools, testing and assessment and other reference materials.
• Mental skills necessary include a high level of cognitive functioning with verbal and written communication, interpersonal, administration, assessment, behavioural information gathering, analysis and evaluation, research, report writing, organisational, problem solving and decision-making capabilities. .

• A relevant tertiary qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 1). In some instances particular experience and/or on-the-job training may be required.
• Registration is required.

• There are opportunities for flexibility of movement.
