• Works with clients on career, study and employment options by obtaining and examining information relevant to their abilities and needs; provides information and resources to assist clients with job-seeking skills.

• Works indoors in an office situationfor careers consultants, employment agencies, vocational rehabilitation organisations or in education institutions.
• Works in adequately heated and ventilated offices.

• Sedentary physical demand.
• Frequent sitting when interviewing clients and when attending meetings or completing reports or documentation.
• Occasionally stands and walks about the office or career/vocational centre to obtain resources and information on jobs and to set up clients on computers for vocational testing.
• Stretching up and reaching across is not a significant component of the job.
• Bending squatting, crouching and kneeling is not a significant component.
• Twisting of the body or neck is not a significant component of the job.
• Contact with skin irritants or water is not a significant component of the job.
• Lifting, carrying and holding is not a significant component of the job.
• Repetitive movements of the hands will be required occasionally to frequently when using computers or writing instruments.
• Driving may be required when the role is based out in the community.
• Use of hand-held objects and equipment will include computers and other record-keeping/office equipment and diaries, on-line and hard copy career information resources, multi-media and audio-visual resources and assessment instruments.
• Mental skills are likely to require careers/training knowledge, assessment, computing, communication, decision-making, report writing, good communication skills with cultural sensitivity/knowledge.

• A relevant tertiary qualification or at least five years applicable experience (ANZSCO Skill Level 1). In some instances particular experience and/or on-the-job training may be required.
• Registration may be required.
