Analyses user needs, produces requirements documentation and system plans, and encodes, tests, de-bugs, maintains and documents programmes and applications.

• Researches, consults, analyses and evaluates system programme needs; identifies technology limitations and deficiencies in existing systems and associated processes, procedures and methods; tests, debugs, diagnoses and corrects errors and faults in an applications programming language within established testing protocols, guidelines and quality standards to ensure programs and applications perform to specification.

• Works indoors in offices at computer workstations.
• Outdoor work is not required.
• Works in adequately lit, heated, ventilated and clean, well maintained workspaces.

• Sedentary to light physical demand.
• Frequently sits in offices at computer workstations.
• Stands and walks around the office and the wider workspace to consult others.
• There is an occasional requirement for lifting, carrying or pulling, most likely within a sedentary range.
• Bending, squatting, crouching stretching, twisting, climbing is unlikely to be required.
• Frequent to constant repetitive hand and finger movements are likely when using a computer and other general office equipment such as phones and calculators.
• Although it is not a significant feature of the job, occasional driving of vehicles may be required to facilitate visits to clientsﾒ premises.
• Mental skills necessary include a high level of cognitive functioning with analytical, computing, report writing, communication, interpersonal, planning, organisational, problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making capabilities anda working knowledge of network administration, software installation, repair tools and design.

• A relevant tertiary qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 1) or at least five years applicable experience. In some instances particular experience and/or on-the-job training may be required.

• There are opportunities for flexibility of movement.
