Designs, plans, implements, and evaluates the delivery of midwifery education and staff development programmes, and manages educational resources.

Researches, plans, develops, and implements midwifery curriculum; teaches midwifery theory and skills; facilitates practical experience for trainees/midwives; observes and assesses trainees/midwives; evaluates ongoing and changing educational needs and monitors course outcomes; participates in developing and implementing policies affecting midwifery, midwifery education, and women’s health.

• Works indoors in administration areas, and meeting rooms, in public and private hospitals and training facilities.
• Works in adequately lit, heated, ventilated, and clean, well-maintained workspaces.

• Sedentary to light demand levels.
• Sits at office desks, in meetings, or when carrying out administrative tasks.
• Stands and walks frequently around offices, wider hospital premises, and training facilities, to deliver and evaluate ongoing and changing educational needs for midwives.
• There is an occasional requirement for lifting within a light physical demand range.
• Repetitive hand and arm movements are required when using computers and when demonstrating some medical procedures.
• There is occasional to frequent use of medical, communication, technology, and administrative equipment and machines.
• Driving of cars may be required occasionally to attend meetings and undertake educational activities but is not typically a significant component of the job.
• Mental skills necessary include a high level of cognitive functioning with midwifery, administrative, planning, communication, interpersonal, organisational, teaching, observational, assessment, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.

• A relevant tertiary qualification or at least five years applicable experience (ANZSCO Skill Level 1). In some instances particular experience and/or on-the-job training may be required.
• A Class 1 Driver Licence may be required.
