Supervises the positioning of scenery, props and lighting and sound equipment.

• Works indoors in television and film studios or theatres. May work outdoors at a variety of scene locations.
• Works in adequately heated and ventilated work spaces when indoors. May be required to work in all weathers when outdoor depending on scene requirements. Outdoor scenes may also involve rough terrain.

• Sedentary to medium physical demand levels.
• Likely to sit, stand and move about for prolonged periods of time when studying sets, set designs, lighting and lighting plans to establish whether it matches the script requirements.
• Stretching up and reaching across is not a significant feature of the job.
• Bending is not a significant feature of the job.
• Squatting, crouching and kneeling may be required when inspecting sets.
• Twisting of the body or neck is not a significant feature of the job.
• Contact with skin irritants or water is not a significant feature of the job.
• Lifting, carrying and holding is unlikely to exceed a light physical demand level, unless there is a hands on component to the job and then only occasionally will go to a medium demand depending on the nature of the props and availability of stage hands.
• Occasional repetitive hand and finger movements are required when using pens, telephones, microphones and when using a keyboard and mouse.
• Driving may be required to access set locations.
• Use of hand-held objects and equipment will be frequent and may include recording instruments, clipboards, writing tools and microphones.
• Mental skills necessary include creative, communication, research, planning and decision-making skills.

A relevant tertiary qualification or at least five years applicable experience (ANZSCO Skill Level 1). In some instances particular experience and/or on-the-job training may be required.
