Plans, administers and reviews activities concerned with publishing, or the production of films, television or radio programmes, theatre, music, festivals or other artistic activities.

• Controls the use of media production facilities such as studios and editing equipment, stage and film equipment and rehearsal time.
• Directs the formulation of media production strategies, policies and plans.

• Works indoors in music, film or radio studios or in performance venues such as theatres or concert halls. May work outdoors at open-air theatres or outdoor stages.
• May work in all weather conditions but typically works in adequately heated and ventilated work spaces when indoors.

• Sedentary physical demand levels.
• Likely to stand, sit and walk about when directing or observing productions.
• May sit for prolonged periods in offices when working out schedules for rehearsals and use of equipment.
• Stretching up and reaching across is not a significant requirement of the job.
• Bending is not a significant requirement of the job.
• Squatting, crouching and kneeling is unlikely to be required.
• Twisting of the body or neck is not a significant requirement of the job.
• Contact with skin irritants or water is not a significant requirement of the job.

• Occasional repetitive hand and finger movements are required when using hand tools including pens, telephones and calculators and using a keyboard and mouse.
• Driving may be necessary but is not a significant feature of the job.
• Use of hand-held objects and equipment will be frequent and may include scripts, clipboards, writing instrument and microphones.
• Mental skills necessary include creative, communication, research, planning and decision-making skills.

A relevant tertiary qualification or at least five years applicable experience (ANZSCO Skill Level 1). In some instances particular experience and/or on-the-job training may be required.
