Entertains by performing a variety of acts using a mix of acting, singing, dance and movement skills.

• Creates and performs individual performance routines that can include acting, singing, dancing and speaking; rehearses, auditions and travels between entertainment venues.

• Works indoors in theatres and studios or outdoors on the street, at circuses or open air theatres.
• Will not usually work in adverse weather if outdoors.
• Usually works in adequately heated and ventilated work spaces when indoors.

• Generally light to medium physical demand levels.
• Performers may stand, sit or walk when carrying out shows.
• Stretching up and reaching across may occur. The frequency will depend upon the nature of the act being preformed.
• Bending and all other movements including squatting, crouching and kneeling may occur, and the frequency will also depend upon the act being performed.
• Twisting of the body or neck may occur; the frequency will depend upon the act being preformed.
• Contact with skin irritants or water is unlikely to be a significant component of this job.
• Lifting, carrying and holding requirementsare governed by the physical actions required of the character but are unlikely to be a significant component of this job
• Repetitive movements may occur; the frequency will depend upon the act being preformed.
• Driving is likely to be unnecessary unless the employee is travelling to performance venues.
• Use of hand-held tools and equipment will be frequent and may include all manner of props, as well as stage make-up and costumes.
• Mental skills necessary include creative, memory, communication and performance/ expressive skills.

• A relevant tertiary qualification or at least five years applicable experience (ANZSCO Skill Level 1). In some instances particular experience and/or on-the-job training may be required.

• There are opportunities for flexibility of movement but they are limited.
