Plans, organises, directs, controls and co-ordinates the ICT strategies, plans and operations of an organisation to ensure the ICT infrastructure supports the organisation's overall operations and priorities.

• Analyses information needs and specifies technology to meet those needs; formulates and directs information and communication technology (ICT) strategies, policies and plans; directs the selection and installation of ICT resources and the provision of user training; directs ICT operations and sets priorities between system developments, maintenance and operations; oversees the security of ICT systems.

• Works indoors in offices and meeting rooms within organisations of varying sizes including large corporates, head offices and medium to small enterprises in the public and private sector. IT services may be permanently located within an organisation or contracted from external service providers. Works in adequately heated, ventilated and clean, well maintained offices.
• Outdoor work is unlikely to be required.

• Sedentary work.
• Frequently sits in offices or in meetings when involved in planning, administration and development tasks.
• Stands and walks frequently in office and site areas.
• Lifting, carrying, pulling, bending, squatting or crouching is not a significant component of this job.
• Frequent repetitive hand and finger movements are required to use hand tools to install hardware and repair and to use testing equipment keyboards and a mouse.
• Driving may be required on an occasional basis.
• Occasional travel may be required to access an organisationﾒs satellite branches.
• Mental skills necessary include a high level of cognitive functioning with communication, interpersonal, technical, computational, design, planning, organisational, problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making capabilities.

• A relevant tertiary qualification or at least five years applicable experience (ANZSCO Skill Level 1). In some instances particular experience and/or on-the-job training may be required.
