Plans, organises, directs, controls and co-ordinates policy advice and strategic planning within an organisation.

• Develops, implements and monitors strategic plans, programmes, policies, processes, systems and procedures to achieve goals, objectives and work standards; develops, implements, administers and participates in policy research and analysis; coordinates the implementation of policies and practices; establishes activity measures and measurements of accountability; oversees and participates in the development of policy documents and reports; consults with and provides expert advice to government officials and board members on policy, program and legislative issues; represents the organisation in negotiations, and at conventions, seminars, public hearings and forums convened to discuss policy issues.

• Constantly works indoors in offices, meeting rooms and within the general premises of organisations or their branches.
• Works in adequately heated, ventilated and clean, well maintained offices.

• Sedentary work, with frequent to constant sitting in offices or in meetings.
• Stands, walks and moves frequently from office to office and between departments.
• Lifting, carrying or pulling is unlikely to exceed sedentary demand.
• Bending, squatting or crouching is unlikely to be required.
• Stretching, twisting, climbing is unlikely to be required.
• Occasional to frequent repetitive hand and finger movements are required when using hand-held objects/equipment including a calculator, keyboard and mouse.
• Driving is not typically a significant component of the job.
• Mental skills necessary include a high level of cognitive functioning with communication, interpersonal, administration, planning, organisational, problem solving and analysis and decision-making capabilities.

• A relevant tertiary qualification or at least five years applicable experience (ANZSCO Skill Level 1). In some instances particular experience and/or on-the-job training may be required.

• There are opportunities for flexibility of movement but they are limited.
